1)Sandeep Kumar Gupta named as the next chairman of GAIL

  • Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Director for Finance at Indian Oil Corporation, has been picked to head India’s largest gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd.
  • He will replace Manoj Jain, who is scheduled to retire on August 31. The PESB recommendation will be vetted by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after the go-ahead of anti-corruption bodies such as the CVC and CBI.

2)KK Venugopal Re-Appointed Attorney General For Three Months

  • Attorney General (A-G), K.K. Venugopal has been re-appointed as the country’s top law officer for a period of three months.
  • Mr Venugopal, whose current one-year term ends on June 30, agreed to a short tenure following a request from the government.

3)India will have 122 unicorns in 25 cities within the next 2-4 years

  • According to a report by the Hurun Research Institute titled Hurun India Future Unicorn Index 2022, India is predicted to have 122 new unicorns in the following 2-4 years.
  • The total worth of these potential unicorns is currently 49 billion US dollars. When a startup is valued at $1 billion USD, it is considered to be a Unicorn.

1)Ferdinand Marcos Jr. takes oath as Philippine president

  • Ferdinand Marcos Jr won the elections on 9th May with 31.6 million votes and was sworn in as the 17th President of the Philippines.
  • He took the oath at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila before the Supreme Court Justice, Alexander Gesmundo. The former President’s daughter and his running mate, Sara Duterte Carpio, swore as vice president on 19th June.

2)World Bank Loan to support India’s Health Sector

  • The World Bank Board of Executive Directors approved two complementary loans of USD 500 million each, for supporting and enhancing India’s health sector.
  • The financing of USD 1 billion by the World Bank will support the “Pradhan Mantri-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM)” scheme of India.
  • This scheme was launched in October 2021, for improving public healthcare infrastructure across India.
  • One of the loans will prioritize seven states including Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, Punjab, Kerala, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

1)Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announces the Business Reform Action 2020

  • BRAP-2020 was presented by the Finance Minister. According to the report’s analysis of the Business Reforms Action Plan’s execution, 7 states have been named as the top achievers.

  • The Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra will face the floor test in the assembly on July 4, a Raj Bhavan official said. 
  • The election for the assembly speaker, if necessary, will be conducted on July 3. Chief minister Eknath Shinde exuded confidence about the majority, saying he has the support of over 170 MLAs.
