What is SSC-CGL?
The Staff Selection Commission of India routinely conducted the Staff Selection Commission- Combined Graduate Level Examination (SSC-CGL). The results of these are used in the recruitment of candidates as staff in various government organisations, ministries, etc. This exam was first conducted in 1975.
SSC-CGL is an online standardised examination. It is conducted in English and Hindi annually. About 1.5 million people take up this exam each year, and it also has a fee of INR 100 to write the exam.
Important Dates
The next round of SSC-CGL registrations opens up from 31 October to 28 November 2019.
The most likely exam dates range from June 2020 to December 2020 in 3 tiers.
Prerequisites and waivers
Those applying must have a Bachelor’s degree in any field from a deemed university at the time of application.
Candidates must be between the ages of 20 and 30, though the limits are subject to variation based on the post.
Women and candidates from SC, ST, PWD, Ex-servicemen do not have to pay the application fee of INR 100. Those falling into these categories are also eligible for reservation.
Syllabus
There are 4 components of the SSC-CGL. These test reasoning, English, quantitative ability, and general awareness.
1. General intelligence and reasoning
The most prominent questions are on series, analogies and figures.
2. General Awareness
We see that the biggest categories in GA include current events and also the sciences (physics, chemistry, biology).
3. English
The major portions of English and comprehension include the close test, sentence-based questions and also synonyms-antonyms.
4. Quantitative ability

Structure and tiers
