What is RRB Group D?

The Ministry of Railways of India routinely conducts recruitment exams. This is done in the form of Railways Recruitment Board Group D examinations annually.

It is conducted in English and also Hindi. About 1.5 million people take up this exam each year. This year, the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) will conduct it instead of RRB.

The last date for application for RRB 2019 has already passed.

The exam is most likely to be held in the months of September and October 2019.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: 10th pass  or ITI from institutions recognised by NCVT/SCVT. NAC granted by NCVT is also acceptable.
  2. Age limit: 18 to 33 years

Structure:

These are the rounds of the RRB Group D examination:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Medical test and document verification

OBC/GENERAL MERIT:    INR 500

SC/ST/PWD/Women

Ex-servicemen/Transgender/

Minorities/Economically Backwards:   INR 250

Pattern:

The exam we are discussing today is the CBT. It is 90 minutes long (120 minutes for PWDs) with 4 sections. There are totally 100 objective type questions. The sections are as follows:

  1. General Science – 25 Qs
  2. Mathematics – 25 Qs
  3. General Awareness – 20 Qs
  4. General Intelligence and Reasoning – 30Qs

Marking scheme: +1, -1/3 (negative marking)

You can write the exam in the following languages: Hindu, English, Urdu, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Konkani, Odia, Manipuri, Bengali, Punjabi, Assamese

Exam Syllabus

1. Mathematics

The most common chapters are Trigonometry and Commercial math.

2. General Intelligence and Reasoning

4. Current Affairs and General Awareness
