2. Odisha government has revised the school timings amidst the rising heatwaves-

  • Due to the rising heatwaves across the country, the Odisha government has decided to revise the school timings of the state.
  • The new school timings came into effect from the 2nd of May 2022.
  • 6 am to 9 am will be the new school hours.

3. ISMC announces plan to set up India’s first semiconductor fabrication unit-

  • ISMC announced its plan to set up India’s first semiconductor fabrication unit.
  • The international semiconductor consortium will invest $3 billion in India’s southern state of Karnataka to set up a chip-making plant.

1. Power demand in Delhi rises to the highest in the first week of May-

  • Due to the rising heat, Delhi also reached its peak demand for 6,194 MV of electricity at 3.34 pm on Monday, the 2nd of May 2022.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is invited to the G-7 summit that is to be held in Germany in June by the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

3. Guidelines on Compensation of KMPs and Senior Management in NBFCs issued by the RBI-

  • The Reserve Bank of India has modified norms for LIs on Short Term Crop Loan Scheme.
  • The Revised Scale Based Regulatory (SBR) framework for Non-Banking Finance Companies (NBFCs) was first put in place in October 2021.
  • The RBI has now issued guidelines on the compensation of Key Managerial Personnel (KMPs) and senior management in NBFCs under the SBR framework that w.e.f. April 1, 2023.

4. PV Sindhu from India bags bronze in Women’s Singles in the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships-

  • The Indian Badminton player PV Sindhu won the bronze medal on 1st May 2022 at the 39th edition of the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships.
  • The Championship was held from April 26th to May 1st, 2022 at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Manila, Philippines.

1. The first Greenfield Grain-Based Ethanol Production Plant of India is Inaugurated in Bihar-

  • Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, opened the country’s first greenfield grain-based ethanol factory in Purnia, Bihar on the 30th of April 2022.
  • The launch of the factory is aimed at ethanol production that would help cut the cost of petrol and also generate employment.

2. The World Bank approves USD 47 million program to strengthen India’s public sector capability-

  • A USD 47 million project to support the Government of India’s ‘Mission Karmayogi’, a national program to strengthen the civil service capacity gets approved by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors.
  • The loan is aimed to help the Indian government achieve its goal of improving the functional and behavioral competencies of about four million civil servants.

3. World Asthma Day is marked on the 3rd May 2022-

  • The World Asthma Day is observed on the first Tuesday of May across the world.
  • The day is observed to create awareness about asthma and is an initiative organized by Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA), a World Health Organization collaborative founded in 1993.

1. India’s first tribal health observatory to come up in Odisha-

  • Odisha is set to come up with India’s “only” observatory that will establish a repository on the health of the tribal population in the state.
  • The Tribal Health Observatory (TriHob) is the first in the country and is designed to be an effective, evidence-based, and policy-oriented center.

2. Bhopal, Surat, and Udaipur among others to be India’s first smart cities-

  • Bhopal, Surat, Udaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, and Indore are set to be declared India’s first set of smart cities.
  • The Smart Cities Mission that was launched on June 25th, 2015 to ‘smarten up’ cities with eco-friendly hi-tech solutions to urban problems is presently in its last year of implementation.
  • The mission is to end in June 2023.

4. NASA scientists study 50-year-old lunar samples ahead of Artemis missions-

  • Ahead of the Artemis mission that is to send humans to the moon, scientists at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center received samples of the lunar surface that were preserved in a freezer at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston since the Apollo 17 astronauts returned them to Earth in December 1972.

5. 12th Hockey India Sub Junior Men’s National Championship 2022 begins in Goa-

  • The 12th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship 2022 begins in Goa.
  • 29 teams are to participate in the tournament.

6. India to be ‘Country of Honor’ at Cannes Marche’ Du Film-

  • India will be the Official Country of Honor at the upcoming Marche’ Du Film that is organized alongside the Cannes Film Festival in France.
  • This is for the first time that such an honor is being bestowed on a country.

2. The first 10 GW Solar State of the country is Rajasthan-

  • Rajasthan became the first state in India to reach 10 GW of cumulative large-scale solar installations according to Mercom’s India Solar Project tracker.

3. In the Chainalysis 2021 Cryptocurrency gains by country, India ranked 21st-

  • Chainalysis, a crypto analytics firm, released data that showed investors around the world realized crypto gains of $162.7 billion in 2021, a huge increase compared to $32.5 billion in 2020.
  • India ranked lowly at the 21st position with realized gains of around $1.85 billion.


4. On 5th July 2022, Andy Jassy is to join as the new CEO of Amazon-

  • Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, retires from his position as the CEO of the company after 27 years since the launch of Amazon on 5th July 1994.
  • The position is now to be taken over by Andy Jassy, a longtime AWS executive.
