The Staff Selection Commission of India, SSC conducts the SSc CHSL exam in order to recruit eligible candidates for various posts in the different ministries and Government of India. The Combined Higher Secondary Level exam helps in selecting candidates for the following posts-

  • Data Entry Operator
  • Postal Assistant
  • Sorting Assistant
  • Junior Secretariat Assistant
  • Lower Division Clerk

  • Eligibility-

The interested candidates need to fulfil the following criteria in order to be able to sit for the SSC CHSL Exam-

  • Is of Indian nationality
  • Has passed the 12th standard examination, or its equivalent. If one holds a Degree, it must be recognized by the Indian government.
  • Must have had science and maths in their 12th standard for the post of Data Entry Operator
  • Is within 18-27 years of age

  • Exam Pattern-

The SSC CHSL Exam is conducted in 3 Tiers-

  • Tier I– Objective type exam and is conducted online
  • Tier II- Descriptive type exam and is conducted offline
  • Tier IIISkill Test/ Typing Test 

 

  • Exam Syllabus-

The SSC CHSL Tier-I exam syllabus is as follows-

  • General Intelligence: 25 questions, 50 marks
  • English: 25 questions, 50 marks
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 25 questions, 50 marks
  • General Awareness: 25 questions, 50 marks

The Tier-I Exam is one hour long. For every correct answer, 2 marks are awarded. And for every wrong answer, 0.50 marks are deducted.

The SSC CHSL Tier-II exam syllabus is as follows-

  • Essay Writing- 200-250 word count
  • Letter/ Application Writing150-200 word count

Candidates have 60 minutes to complete Tier-II of the exam. The total score of the exam is 100 marks.

The Tier-III of the exam tests the typing skills of candidates who qualify through the first two rounds and for those applying for the Data Entry Operator.
