Today’s National Current Affairs-
1. Draft Guidelines Released for National Registration of Doctors-
- The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released draft guidelines on the registration of doctors for them to practice medicine.
- The guideline provides a framework for the creation of an effective national medical register under which students who qualify for NEET will be provided with a unique ID.
- Professional qualifications, super-specialty training, and post-graduation will also be added to the ID.
- The guideline also opens the registration of all the foreign doctors who want to come to the country for fellowship, post-graduation courses, clinical research, and voluntary clinical services.
2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Releases Third Positive Indigenisation List-
- In order to develop India as a defense manufacturing hub, the Union Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh, has released the third indigenization list of 101 items.
- This is a part of the move towards Atmanirbhar Bharat.
- The list comprises major equipment and platforms to help strengthen India’s defense.
3. Ministry of I&B Constitutes AVGC Promotion, Task Force-
- Headed by Apoorva Chandra IAS, Secretary I&B, and other representatives from Union Government, State Government, and key industrialist players, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) has constituted an Animation, Visual, Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) Promotion Task Force.
- The task force is required to submit its first action plan within 90 days and will also be responsible for framing a National AVGC policy.
International Current Affairs-
1. UNHRC Suspends Russia from Human Rights Council; India Abstains from Vote-
- In light of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Russia was suspended from the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on 7th April 2022.
- The 193 members of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted to adopt a resolution moved by the United States of America.
- The resolution, titled as ‘Suspension of the rights of membership of the Russian Federation in the Human Rights Council’, received 93 votes in favor, 24 against, and 58 abstentions, including India.
- Russia becomes the second country and first P-5 country to have its membership rights stripped at the rights council that was established in 2006.
- Russia’s current membership in the council expires in December 2023.
Banking and Economy Current Affairs-
1. Restrictions imposed on Shushruti Souhrada Sahakara Bank Niyamita by RBI-
- Bangalore-based bank, Shushruti Souhrada Sahakara Bank Niyamita receives several restrictions from the Reserve Bank of India.
- The decision was made by the RBI on the 7th of April 2022.
- The impositions will be in effect for a period of six months due to a decline in the lender’s financial position.
2. Axis Bank inks USD 150 mn Partial Guarantee Agreement with ADB to Support Supply Chain Financing-
- Axis Bank signed a Partial Guarantee Facility Agreement (PGFA) with the Asian Development Bank.
- The agreement is a partial guarantee program with the initial outlay of USD 150 million.
- This project is ADB’s first supply chain finance transaction in India.
- This is a move to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in India to participate in trade through environmental and socially sustainable supply chains.
- Axis Bank will be able to better support SMEs by freeing up capital which will increase the amount of support it can lend to sectors identified by them as the most important to sustainability.
Today’s Science and Technology Current Affairs-
1. DRDO Successfully Flight Tested SFDR Booster at ITR off the coast of Odisha-
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) ran a successful flight test of the Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) booster missile system at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.
- The SFDR is an air-to-air missile.
- The missile’s propulsion enables it to intercept aerial threats at a very long range at supersonic speed.
- It has an operational range of 350 km maximum speed of 4.5

1. NASSCOM’s first chairman Harish S. Mehta Authored a new book “The Maverick Effect”-
- The founding member and the first elected chairman of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) Harish S. Mehta have penned a new book titled “The Maverick Effect”.
- The plot tells the story of NASSCOM and the life story of Harish S. Mehta.
- The book is published by HarperCollins Publisher India.
