1. In a first, retired Supreme Court judge Rohinton Nariman sets up a YouTube channel-
- Justice Rohinton F Nariman has created a classic example of embracing this rapid innovation by becoming the first retired Supreme Court judge to start an official YouTube channel.
- The channel, called ‘Justice Nariman Official Channel’, went live on April 16 showcasing 48 full-length videos of his lectures on law, history, religion, music, and spirituality among several other topics. Most of these lectures were delivered during his tenure as a Supreme Court judge.
2. Rajasthan becomes the first state to get an L-root server-
- Rajasthan has become the first state in the country to get the L-root server, which will enable the State government to provide its flagship digital services and enforce e-governance with seamless internet connectivity.
- The new facility will strengthen internet infrastructure and help improve the security and resilience of internet-based operations.
3. India to get its first indoor skydiving facility in Hyderabad-
- Hyderabad is all set to get India’s first-of-its-kind indoor skydiving facility. Offered by GravityZip, the facility will be built at the Gandipet in the city.
- The skydiving facilities will be conducted in a safe, closed, and controlled environment, and will remain unaffected by turbulence and external weather conditions.
4. Manoj Pande is India’s New Army Chief-
- Army Vice Lieutenant General Manoj Pande was appointed as the new chief of the Indian Army.
- Pande is the first engineer to hold the top military post.
- Lt Gen Manoj Pande, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, was commissioned in December 1982 in the Corps of Engineers (The Bombay Sappers).
- He has commanded 117 Engineer Regiment during Operation PARAKRAM in the sensitive Pallanwala Sector of Jammu and Kashmir, along the Line of Control.
- Pande is a graduate of Staff College, Camberley (United Kingdom), and attended the Higher Command (HC) and National Defence College (NDC) Courses.

6. The Union Ministry of Environment Provides changes in Environmental Clearance Process-
- The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change has introduced several changes to the environmental clearance process.
- The changes are for development projects while also exempting other projects entirely from its jurisdiction for which the environmentalists are showing concern.
- The proposal and changes came as two office memorandums and notifications that were issued between 11th and 12th April 2022.

- Earlier this month, Sri Lanka’s entire Cabinet — aside from President Gotabaya and his elder brother, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa — resigned from their posts after thousands of people defied a countrywide state of emergency and curfew and joined street protests denouncing the government.

1. SpaceX: Launch of NROL-85 US Spy Satellite-
- A US National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Spy Satellite was launched into orbit by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, on 17th April.
- The satellite is named NROL-85.
- NROL-85 was this year’s second mission of the agency and also 2022’s second orbital launch from the Western Range of the USA.

4. Haryana Wins the 12th Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship-
- Haryana has emerged as the 12th Senior Men’s National Hockey Champion.
- The team defeated Tamil Nadu with a 3-1 score.
- The tournament was held in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh from 6th to 17th April 2022.
- Since 2011, this is the first time that Haryana lifted the champions trophy.

1. UN Chinese Language Day-
- UN Chinese Language Day is observed annually on April 20.
