1. Targeting the Semiconductor in Bangalore, PM Narendra Modi inaugurates the first SemiconIndia Conference 2022-

• Based on the theme ‘Catalyzing India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem’, the first ‘SemiconIndia 2022’ conference was organized by India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) in partnership with the industry and industry association on the 29th April-1st May 2022.
• The conference was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in Bangalore, Karnataka.
• The initiative of the conference launchpad pad of India’s semiconductor strategy and policy to bring together global leaders from Industry, Academia, and Research Institutions.
• The conference aims to set in motion the vision of ISM to make India a global hub for Semiconductor design, Manufacturing, and Technology Development.

2. The First Greenfield Grain-Based Ethanol Production Plant of India is Inaugurated in Bihar-

• The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, opened the country’s first greenfield grain-based ethanol factory in Purnia, Bihar on the 30th of April 2022.
• The launch of the factory is aimed at ethanol production that would help cut the cost of petrol and also generate employment.
• The plant will need 150 tons of maize and grain daily to produce 65,000 liters of ethanol per day.

1. According to the latest FAO’s The State of the World’s Forest report 2022: 10% of total forest area on Earth is lost in the last 30 years-

• The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) released its flagship publication “The State of the World’s Forest (SOFO) 2022: Forest Pathways for Green Recovery and Building Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable economies” on the 2nd of May 2022.
• According to the report, since 1990 around 420 million hectares of forest have been lost due to its conversion to other land uses.

2. 8 Indian Universities among top 300; India becomes 4th best-represented nation according to THE Impact Rankings 2022-

• The Times Higher Education (THE) has released THE Impact Rankings 2022 (4th Edition).
• India ranks 4th, jointly with Turkey, as the most well-represented country among other 64 Universities.
• Among the top 300 universities in the world, 8 universities from India are at the top.

• The aim behind the collaboration is to provide climate-smart agriculture technology for water and food security.
• The app will also have features like intelligent and automated early warning systems, climate and health, smart power grid management, and more.

1. Ronnie O’Sullivan becomes the oldest snooker champion by winning the record of the 7th World Snooker Championship Title-

• Ronnie O’Sullivan won the 2022 World Snooker Championship by defeating Judd Trump in the finals that were held from April 16 to May 2, 2022, at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England.
