1. ‘Operation Satark’, an RPF launched focused effort-

  • The Railway Protection Force (RPF) had launched a new program named ‘Operation Satark’.
  • The operation ran from the 5th till the 30th of April 2022.
  • The aim behind the program was to stop the illegal transportation of tobacco products, illicit liquor, fake currency circulation, unaccounted gold or cash orprecious items, and more. 
  • 26 cases, Rs 44 lakh of worth illegal tobacco products, and 14 arrests were made during the operation.

2. Extension of insurance coverage under the ‘Nethanna Bima’ Scheme announced by Telangana Government-

  • The ‘Nethanna Bima’ scheme that provides weavers insurance is going to get its insurance coverage extended by the Telangana government.
  • The state government has issued the insurance extension by 5 lakh rupees under the insurance scheme, bringing the weavers at par with the farmers’ insurance scheme.

3. Jog Falls Project’s Environmental Impact-

  • The center is making queries about whether before giving the environmental clearance for a five-star hotel at the Jog Development Project any environmental impact study has been carried out or not.

4. A new program to take into effect: the Mukhyamantri Muft Sewer Connection-

  • New Delhi will be provided free sewer connections by the Delhi government in 12 colonies in Mustafabad and Karawal Nagar, East Delhi.
  • Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Muft Sewer’ 25000 households located in East Delhi will be provided with free sewer connections.
  • Chandu Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, and parts of Khajuri Khas are the colonies to be included under the program.
  • The state government has allocated Rs. 19 crores to implement these connections.

International Current Affairs

1. After India and Germany inked a joint declaration of intent, the Indo-German Green Hydrogen Task Force has been established-

  • Shri R. K. Singh, the Indian minister, and Dr. Robert Habeck, the German minister have virtually signed a joint declaration of intent on an Indo-German hydrogen task force.
  • With the world’s highest pace of expansion in renewable energy capacity, India has emerged as a global leader in the energy transition.
  • The German minister is made aware of the fact that India has a clear bidding procedure, an open market, a quick dispute resolution system, and is widely recognized as one of the best RE investment destinations.

1. Venkataramani Sumantran appointed as the InterGlobe Aviation’s Chairman-

  • Venkataramani Sumantran, a corporate leader, technocrat, and academician is appointed as the Chairperson of the IndiGo board, announced the InterGlobe Aviation.
  • Sumantran has a strong 37-years of career experience where he worked in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
  • The newly appointed Chairman is the managing director and chairperson of a strategic advising firm named Celeris Technologies.
  • At IndiGo, Sumantran is to take over the post of Melveetil Damodran, the earlier chairman.

2. By December 2024, ISRO plans missions to Venus-

  • To study what lies below the surface of Venus the Indian Space Research Organization will send a spacecraft to its orbit, announced S Somnath, the space body’s chairperson. 
  • The schedule to launch the mission is tentatively around December 2024 and ISRO has also planned an orbital maneuver for a year after that. 
  • The orbital maneuver, a system of the use of propulsion to change the orbit of the spacecraft, is used to make a spacecraft enter a planet’s orbit. 

Sports Current Affairs

1. India’s wins from the Deaflympics 2022-

  • Deaflympics, the world games and international games for the deaf, was first started in the year 1924 by ICSD.
  • 2022 is the year of the 24th Deaflympics and is held in Brazil, and India is also a participating country.
  • The key wins of India in the Deaflympics are as follows-

i. In the men’s 10-meter Air Rifle event, Dhanush Shrikanth won gold and Shourya Saini won a bronze.

ii. The Indian badminton team also bagged a gold against Japan in the finals.

  • India is currently in the 8th position with two golds and one bronze, and Ukraine is in the lead with 19 golds, 6 silvers, and 13 bronze followed shortly by the USA in the second with 6 golds, two silvers, and 7 bronze medals.
  • From India, 65 athletes are participating in the Deaflympics this year.

Miscellaneous Current Affairs

1. 7th May 2022 Celebrated as World Athletics Day-

  • Globally 7th May is celebrated as World Athletics Day.
  • The day is commemorated to raise awareness about the importance of fitness and encourage them to play sports, especially athletics.
  • The objective of the day is to boost the participation of youths in athletics.
  • Various schools, colleges, and other institutes get a chance to promote their children’s interest in various athletic sports, courtesy of the day.
