National Current Affairs:

1. A first, land in Seychelles offered to Tirupati shrine-

  • Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) may receive its first-ever land donation overseas – subject to approval by the trust board – after Ramakrishna Pillai, an overseas citizen of India based in Seychelles expressed his desire to donate land to the TTD in Victoria, the capital of Seychelles.
  • The temple trust will have to conduct a thorough feasibility study to execute the donation.

2. Delhi becomes the first state to include and incentivize e-cycles-

  • In a significant decision, the Delhi government has announced to include e-cycles in its ambitious Electric Vehicle(EV) Policy.
  • Delhi has now become the first state in the country to incentivize e-cycles under its EV policy.
  • This will include both passenger and cargo e-cycle having a speed of less than 25 km/hour.
  • A purchase incentive of 25 percent of MRP up to Rs 5,500 will be provided to the first 10,000 buyers.
  • An additional incentive of Rs 2,000  to the first 1,000 individual e-cycles owners will be provided to create the much-needed demand for e-cycles.

3. IT ministry sets up a 17-member committee to steer, guide the semiconductor mission-

  • The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced that a 17 member advisory committee is to steer and guide the government’s Rs 76,000 crore semiconductor mission.
  • The Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw will be the chairperson of the committee, while Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar will be the vice-chairperson. Niti Aayog member V K Saraswat, Principal scientific advisor to the government of India, and secretaries from the ministry of external affairs, departments of expenditure, economic affairs, and promotion of industry and internal trade, respectively will be members of the committee.
  • The deputy national security advisor of the National Security Council Secretariat will also be a member of the committee while the secretary of the ministry of electronics and information technology will be the convenor of the committee.

4. Uttarakhand CM launches ‘Corruption-Free Uttarakhand App-1064’-

  • Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the ‘Corruption-Free Uttarakhand App-1064’.
  • While launching the App, Mr. Dhami said that the government is committed to making the state corruption-free and ensuring that governance in the state is carried out transparently. 
  • He said every complaint will be resolved at the earliest.
  • The app will be available in both Hindi and English.

Today’s International Current Affairs:

1. US Senate confirms Ketanji Brown Jackson as US Supreme Court Judge, first Black woman to be elevated to the post-

  • The US Senate has confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson for the Supreme Court in a largely partisan vote.
  • The Senate voted 53 to 47 to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, making her the first Black woman elevated to the Supreme Court.
  • Three Republicans joined Democrats and independents in supporting Jackson to be the first African American woman on the highest court. 
  • President Joe Biden termed Jackson’s confirmation as a historic moment for the US.

Science & Technology Current Affairs:

1. IIT Madras Launches ‘Kadam’, India’s First Indigenously Developed Polycentric Prosthetic Knee that Can Bend More-

  • Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras have launched India’s first indigenously developed polycentric prosthetic knee, which aims to improve the quality of life for thousands of above-knee amputees.
  • Called Kadam, the prosthetic knee has advantages over a hinge joint because of the multiple axes of rotation, which provide the user greater control over the prosthesis while walking and maximum knee flexion of 160 degrees to make it easy to sit in cramped spaces like buses and autos.
  • It is designed for durability with high-strength stainless steel and aluminum alloy along with hard chrome plated EN8 pins and high fatigue life polymer bushings.
  • Indigenously developed Kadam is affordable and, at the same time, of high quality and performance, complying with ISO standards, including 30 lakh cycles of fatigue testing.
  •  It provides stability, reduces the risk of stumbling, and its patented geometry is specifically optimized for use on uneven terrains.

2. DRDO conducts successful flight test of the Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet-

  • Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDO successfully flight tested the Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) booster at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.
  • The test successfully demonstrated the reliable functioning of all critical components involved in the complex missile system and met all the mission objectives.
  • The Defence Minister said, the SFDR-based propulsion enables the missile to intercept aerial threats at very long range at supersonic speeds.
  • The SFDR has been developed by Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Hyderabad in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories such as Research Centre Imarat, Hyderabad, and High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Pune.

1. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc wins Formula 1 Australian GP

  • Charles Leclerc has converted his pole position into a comprehensive triumph in the Australian Grand Prix.

Miscellaneous Current Affairs:

1. World Homoeopathy Day-

  • WHD is observed every year on 10th April to pay tribute to the founder and father of the Homoeopathic system of medicine Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann.
  • The main aim of this day is to spread knowledge about Homoeopathic medicine in public health.
  • In fact from 10th to 16th of April is observed as World Homoeopathy Week and is celebrated annually and is organized by the World Homoeopathy Awareness Organisation.
  • Basically, this day is celebrated both for homoeopaths and also for those who have been treated by homoeopathy.

2. Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates a two-day scientific convention on ‘Homoeopathy: People’s Choice for Wellness’

  • Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated a two-day scientific convention on ‘Homoeopathy: People’s Choice for Wellness’ in New Delhi.
  • The three apex bodies under the Ministry of Ayush namely, the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, National Commission for Homoeopathy, and National Institute of Homoeopathy are jointly organizing this convention on the World Homoeopathy Day which is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of Homoeopathy, Dr. Christian Fredrich Samuel Hahnemann.
  • Homoeopathic researchers, scientists from interdisciplinary streams, practitioners, students, industrialists along with representatives of various homoeopathic associations participated in this convention.
