• Ramkrishna Mukkavilli is recognized as the Global Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Pioneer for Water Stewardship by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).
• This is for the first time that an Indian is recognized for the role.
• 10 new SDG Pioneers have been named by the UNGC who are corporate leaders and are excelling in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• These leaders are implementing the UN Global Compact 10 Principles on human rights, environment, labor, and anti-corruption.

2. PM Modi holds a virtual meeting with the CM of Karnataka to discuss his scheduled visit to the state-

• PM Modi is scheduled to visit Karnataka on June 20 and 21.
• PM held a virtual conference with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to discuss the scheduled visit.
• The officials of the state and union governments discussed the proposed programmes that the PM is to inaugurate during his visit.

3. The first State Women’s Conference of Meghalaya was held in Shillong-

• On June 8, 2022, Meghalaya’s first State Women’s Conference was held at the State Convention Center, Shillong.

2. Humanitarian assistance worth $48 Million to be granted to Sri Lanka by the UN-

• Amid the crisis in Sri Lanka, the United Nations has decided to provide humanitarian assistance worth $48 Million to the country over a period of four months.
• New Delhi had been providing assistance worth $3 Billion since January to provide essential items like food, fuel, cooking gas, and medicines.
• Sri Lanka needs $6 billion to keep itself afloat the economy crises its facing.
