1. India’s 1st Indigenous Hydrogen-Fuelled Electric Vessel to be built by MoPSW at the Cochin Shipyard-

  • India’s first indigenous hydrogen-fuelled electric vessels are all set to be built by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).
  • The estimate of creating the hydrogen fuel cell vessel that is based on Low-Technology (LT-PEM) called the Fuel Cell Electric Vessel (FCEV) is somewhere around Rs. 17.50 crore.
  • The Government of India is to bear 75% of the funding.
  • This initiative of the Government of India is a part of the transformative efforts of innovative and new technology front on green energy, sustainable cost-effective alternative fuel front.

2. ‘Miyan ka Bada’, a railway station in Rajasthan, is now to be known as ‘Mahesh Nagar Halt’-

  • ‘Miyan ka Bada’ railway station in the Balotra area of Rajasthan’s Barmer district was renamed ‘Mahesh Nagar Halt’ in an official name-changing ceremony that was held on the 30th April 2022.
  • The ceremony was attended by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Union Minister of State Kailash Choudhary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and other personnel.

3. Power demand in Delhi rises to the highest ever in the first week of May-

  • With the rising heat, Delhi also reached its peak demand for 6,194 MV of electricity at 3.34 pm on Monday, the 2nd of May 2022.
  • The day before, i.e., on the 1st of May the demand was 6,048 MV.

1. Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, invites PM Modi to G-7 Summit in Germany-

  • Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, is invited to the G-7 Summit that is to be held in Germany in June by the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz.
  • Modi arrived in Berlin on Monday as part of the first leg of his three-nation Europe trip.
  • Modi is also scheduled to visit Denmark and France later.

2. Swift Responses 2022 and Defender Europe 2022 to Begin in Poland and 8 Other Countries- NATO Exercises-

  • The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) exercise aimed at building preparedness and interoperability between Allies and partners of the USA and NATO began the Defender Europe 2022 (DE22) and Swift Response 2022 (SR22) on May 1st, 2022.
  • The schedule for the exercise is fixed from May 1 to May 27, 2022.
  • The host countries of the exercise are Poland and 8 other countries.

1. Guidelines on Compensation of KMPs and Senior Management in NBFCs issued by the RBI-

  • The Reserve Bank of India has modified norms for LIs on Short Term Crop Loan Scheme.
  • The revised Scale Based Regulatory (SBR) framework for Non-Banking Finance Companies (NBFCs) was first put in place in October 2021. The RBI has now issued guidelines on the compensation of Key Managerial Personnel (KMPs) and senior management in NBFCs under the SBR framework that w.e.f. April 1, 2023.

1. India’s PV Sindhu bags Bronze in Women’s Singles in the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships-

  • The Indian badminton player PV Sindhu won the Bronze on the 1st of May 2022 at the 39th edition of the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships.
  • The Championship was held from April 26th to May 1st, 2022 at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Manila, Philippines.
