Today’s National Current Affairs:
1. India’s first Amrit Sarovar prepared in UP’s Rampur-
- With the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh, India`s first `Amrit Sarovar` has been completed in Rampur`s Gram Panchayat Patwai.
- Under the Amrit Sarovar initiative, 75 water bodies will be developed and rejuvenated in each district as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
- A pond in Rampur has been cleaned and rejuvenated in a few weeks. Now this pond has become a big center of tourism in the rural area.
- Seventy-five ponds in Rampur were selected to be developed as Amrit Sarovar.
- Out of the selected ponds, the work of the pond of village panchayat Patwai of development block Shahbad was completed.
2. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurates Global Ayush Investment & Innovation Summit 2022 at Gandhinagar-
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Global Ayush Investment & Innovation Summit 2022 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- The three-day Ayush global summit will witness a dialogue with entrepreneurs, industry, startups, and other stakeholders to encourage them to increase investment for innovation in Ayush as the sector continues to showcase colossal room for growth.
- The three-day summit will witness 5 plenary sessions, 8 roundtables, 6 workshops, and 2 symposiums, with the presence of around 90 eminent speakers and 100 exhibitors.
- The Summit will help uncover investment potential, and give a fillip to innovation, research & development, start-up ecosystem, and the wellness industry.
- It will help bring together industry leaders, academicians, and scholars and act as a platform for future collaborations.
3. Mumbai to host India’s first international cruise conference-
- India would host the first-ever incredible India International Cruise Conference 2022 in May, months ahead of the commissioning of the iconic cruise terminal in Mumbai.
- The Mumbai Port Authority (MPA) would host the event in India’s financial capital on May 14-15.
- It may be mentioned that the first-of-its-kind of iconic sea cruise terminal would be commissioned by Mumbai by July 2024.
4. Niti Aayog, UNICEF join hands for a report on child development-
- NITI Aayog, the government’s top public policy think tank, has joined hands with UNICEF to bring out the country’s first report on multidimensional child development, focusing on aspects such as health, education, and nutrition.
- The two entities will develop a comprehensive measure to understand the multidimensional “attainments and deprivations” among children across parameters such as health and nutrition, education, water, and sanitation.
- The move aims to achieve child-development priorities under the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDG) and to analyze recent children-related trends.
- A NITI Aayog statement said the move will help India realize its commitments on the 2030 Agenda and provide a set of policy recommendations for accelerating progress towards the SDGs “to leave no child behind”.

5. First Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award to be conferred on PM Modi in Mumbai-
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with the inaugural Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award which is instituted in the memory of the veteran singer Lata Mangeskar.
- The award ceremony will be held in Mumbai tomorrow, marking the 80th death anniversary of the late Master Deenanath Mangeshkar.

1. Ramos-Horta declares victory in East Timor presidential election-
- Independence leader and Nobel laureate Jose Ramos-Horta have declared victory in East Timor’s presidential election, calling for unity and dialogue after a final count showed he had secured 62 percent of the vote.
- Ramos-Horta was previously president from 2007 until 2012 and has also held the post of prime minister.
2. Xi Jinping elected as a delegate to CPC Congress; all set to get endorsement for a rare third term-
- China’s ruling Communist Party has set the ball rolling for a rare third term for President Xi Jinping as he was “unanimously elected” as a delegate for the once-in-five-year party Congress to be held in the next few months.
Business & Economy Current Affairs:
1. NPCI ties up with UAE’s Mashreq to launch UPI-
- NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), the international arm of NPCI, has entered the UAE market by partnering with NeoPay, the payment subsidiary of Mashreq Bank, and will offer Unified Payments Interface-based payments for Indians traveling to these regions.
- Both the entities have been creating the acceptance infrastructure over the past year, with the BHIM UPI service now live on NeoPay terminals.
- This is NPCI’s third such international expansion after Bhutan and Singapore.
- The payments entity is also talking to Nepal to create an indigenous payments platform like UPI.
Science & Technology Current Affairs:
1. Start-up offers superior propulsion systems; plans to set up fuel stations in space-
- Scientists at a Mumbai-based start-up are working on technologies to offer efficient propulsion systems and re-fuelling satellites in outer space to extend their lifespan.
- Manastu Space, a five-year-old start-up launched by two IIT-Bombay alumni Tushar Jadhav and Ashtesh Kumar, has come up with a propulsion system for satellites that utilizes affordable, “green” fuel as opposed to the conventional propellant, which is carcinogenic.
- “The current fuel – hydrazine – is toxic and carcinogenic. We have developed a propellant using hydrogen peroxide, which is easily available, and put some proprietary additives to improve its performance,”.

1. Djokovic loses to Andrey Rublev in Serbia Open final-
- World number one Novak Djokovic’s barren title spell in 2022 continued as he went down to Russian Andrey Rublev in the Serbia Open final in Belgrade.
- Rublev galloped to an early lead and barely gave his opponent a chance as he closed out the match with a powerful forehand winner for his 11th career title.
2. Vishwaraj Jadeja becomes the first Indian athlete to skate 100 km nonstop on the Frozen Sea of Sweden-
- Indian ice-speed-skating athlete Vishwaraj Jadeja recently became the first Indian athlete to have skated 100 kilometers on the Frozen Sea in Sweden, as part of the Sea Ice Classic, Lulea.
- It was the first time an Indian has attempted and finished such a feat.

1. World Book Day is observed-
- World Book and Copyright Day, also known as World Book Day, is being observed to honor the great works of authors all over the world.
- The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) established World Book Day on the 23rd of April 1995, as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, to encourage young people to discover the joy of reading.
- English Language Day marks both the birthday and date of the death of famed writer William Shakespeare.
