1. 1st edition of the 4-day Naval Commanders’ Conference commences in New Delhi-

  • The first edition of the four-day Naval Commanders’ Conference commenced in New Delhi.
  • The conference focused on addressing the contemporary security paradigms while seeking ways to enhance the combat capability of the Navy and make operations more effective and efficient.

2. Israel embassy unveils street-art mural in Delhi to mark 30 years of friendship-

  • The Israeli embassy in India has collaborated with Delhi Street Art to conceive and execute a wall art project – to mark 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
  • The mural was designed by Delhi Street Art’s founder Yogesh Saini and his team. It took them seven days to prepare the art.

3. World military expenditure passes $2 trillion for 1st time; India in 3rd place: SIPRI-

  • The global military expenditure has crossed the USD 2 trillion mark for the first time, with the US, the world’s largest economy, being the top spender, Sweden-based defense think-tank SIPRI said.
  • India is in the third position. In its latest report, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said that the total global military expenditure increased by 0.7 percent in real terms in 2021, to reach USD 2,113 billion.

4. Elon Musk’s bid to buy Twitter gets accepted by the company-

  • Billionaire Elon Musk had offered to buy Twitter, a social media company, for $44 Billion on Monday, i.e., the 25th of April 2022.

5. World Intellectual Property Day – April 26, 2022- 

  • This year, World Intellectual Property Day 2022’s theme focuses on IP and Youth innovating for a Better Future.

1. Agra to get country’s first vacuum-based sewer system-

  • The city of Taj Mahal, Agra, has become the first city in the country to have vacuum-based sewers.
  • These vacuums will be used in public places.

2. PM Narendra Modi declared the launch of AYUSH MARK and AYUSH VISA-

  • The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has launched ‘AYUSH MARK’ and ‘AYUSH VISA’ at the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit.
  • The aim behind this launch is to boost the nation’s traditional medicine industry.

3. World’s first floating city in Busan, South Korea-

  • As a pilot project of the United Nations, Busan plans to be the first city to adopt a “floating city” wherein some parts would be ready by 2025.
  • The plans are afoot to make it a self-sustained city with its water recycling plant and solar panels for its power generation.

4. UP first state to adopt airshed mgmt for clean air-

  • UP will be the first state in the country to adopt ‘airshed management’ for clean air with the help of the World Bank and other national and international institutes.

1. World Day for Safety and Health at Work 28 April-

  • In 2003, the International Labour Organization (ILO), began to observe World Day stress the prevention of accidents and diseases at work, capitalizing on the ILO’s traditional strengths of tripartism and social dialogue.
  • This celebration is an integral part of the Global Strategy on Occupational Safety and Health of the ILO, as documented in the Conclusions of the International Labour Conference in June 2003.

2. Coimbatore gets TN’s first IoT-based water supply system-

  • Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) launched a smart 24×7 water supply project at Cheran Nagar in Kavundampalayam.

3. Judicial appointments for Calcutta, Himachal HCs-

  • President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the appointment of five judges to the Calcutta High Court and one judge to the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
  • Those appointed to the Calcutta High Court as additional judges are Kesang Doma Bhutia, Rabindranath Samanta, Sougato Majumdar, Bivas Pattanayak, and Ananda Kumar Mukherjee.
  • In Himachal Pradesh HC, Satyen Vaidya has been appointed as a judge.

4. Jamtara becomes the country’s first district with a library in every village-

  • Jamtara in Jharkhand has become the only district in the country where all gram panchayats have community libraries.

5. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari takes oath as Pakistan’s Foreign Minister-

  • Scion of Pakistan’s leading political dynasty, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, took oath as the foreign minister in the government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at a crucial juncture as he faces multiple challenges such as fixing strained ties with the US and finding a way to restart the peace process with neighboring India.

1. J&K: Samba becomes the first district in India to cover 100% households under ABPMJAY- SEHAT scheme-

  • In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Samba district of the Jammu division has become the first district in India to cover 100% of households under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY)- SEHAT scheme.

2. US President Joe Biden released a proposal to seize Russia’s oligarchs’ US assets and offer them to Ukraine now-

  • As a gesture of support for Ukraine, the US President has proposed that US-based assets of Russian oligarchs will be seized and offered to Ukraine to help them rebuild their decimated cities.

3. ICICI Bank launches digital ecosystem for MSMEs-

  • Private sector lender ICICI Bank launched a comprehensive digital ecosystem for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including customers of other banks.
  • The bank informed that the ecosystem offers an array of industry-first solutions, bringing forth a significant shift from the existing industry practice where banks offer services only to their customers.

4. In a first, IndiGo uses an Indian navigation system to land aircraft-

  • An IndiGo-operated ATR 72-600 aircraft landed at the Kishangarh airport using an approach process guided by India’s satellite-based augmentation system named GAGAN, or GPS-aided GEO Augmented Navigation.
