Andhra Pradesh welcomed 13 new districts to its state-

  • The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated 13 new districts in the state digitally on Monday.
  • The new districts have been scored from the already existing 13 districts of the state.
  • The number of districts of Andhra Pradesh tallies to a total of 26 as of now.
  • The Special Chief Secretary to Government, G. Sai Prasad, had confirmed the welcome of the new districts and has also conveyed his regard, hoping the decision will benefit the people of the state.
  • The list of the 13 new districts are-
    • Alluri Sitaram Raju district at Paderu
    • Anakapalli, Annamayya district at Rayachoti
    • Bapatla, Chittoor, East Godavari district at Rajamahendravaram
    • Kakinada at East Godavari district
    • Konaseema district at Amalapuram
    • Nandyal, NTR district at Vijayawada
    • Palnadu district at Narasaraopet 
    • Parvathipuram Manyam, Sri Satya district at Puttaparthi
    • Tirupati district and West Godavari district at Bhimavaram
    • Ananthapuram, Guntur, Krishna district at Machilipatnam 
    • Kurnool, Prakasam, district at Ongole
    • Sri PottiSriramulu district at Nellore

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur launches Broadcast Seva Portal

  • Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur launched the Broadcast Seva Portal in New Delhi.
  • The portal will provide a single point facility for the stakeholders to request required permission, registrations, and licenses.
  • The Government has harnessed technology to bring transparency to the system and make it more accountable.
  • The Broadcast Seva Portal will reduce the turnaround time of applications and at the same time help applicants track their progress.
  • This portal will reduce the human interface and will be a major step towards Ease of Doing Business.
  • The 360-degree digital solution will facilitate the stakeholders in seeking permissions, applying for registration, tracking applications, calculating fees, and executing payments.
  • This portal will provide its services under the wider umbrella efforts of Digital India to all stakeholders to private satellite TV channels, teleport operators, community, and private radio channels.
  • The portal is a giant leap forward in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mantra of Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.
  • It will boost the business environment and empower the entire broadcast sector by directly benefiting more than 900 Satellite TV Channels, 70 Teleport operators, 1700 Multi-Service Operators, 350 Community Radio Stations, 380 Private FM Channels, and others.
  • The Broadcast Seva portal will be soon linked to National Single Window System.
  • The new portal has several improvements over the previous version and has incorporated suggestions from stakeholders over a trial period of one month.

Lok Sabha passes Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill

  • Lok Sabha passed the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill that seeks to take measurements of convicts and other persons for purposes of identification and investigation in criminal matters.
  • The bill was passed by a voice vote after Home Minister Amit Shah allayed concerns raised by the opposition which claimed that the draft law was draconian.
  • The bill replaces the Identification of Prisoners Act, of 1920.

Govt to introduce a new education policy for the academic year 2022-23 to reduce the burden on students, universities, and the education system

  • In pursuance of the New Education Policy-2020, it has been decided to conduct the Common Entrance Test for admission in Central Universities from the academic year 2022-23 to reduce the burden on students, universities, and the entire education system.
  • This was stated by the Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhas Sarkar in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
  • The Minister further said that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate programs is to assess the students of different boards at the same level, giving them equal opportunity.
  • Students may apply to more than one university as per their choice with one application form thereby reducing the financial burden and increasing access.
  • They can appear in the test in 13 languages over hundreds of examination centers for admission

International Current Affairs-

Until the appointment of Caretaker PM, Imran Khan to continue as the Prime Minister of Pakistan-

  • Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi informed that Imran Khan is to continue as Prime Minister until a caretaker PM is appointed under Article 224 A (4) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
  • The decision was made after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was de-notified as Pakistan’s PM after the dissolution of the National Assembly.
  • Pakistan’s National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri declared PM Imran Khan’s no-confidence motion unconstitutional and a contradiction of Article 5 of the Constitution.

HDFC Limited to merge with HDFC Bank-

  • India’s largest private sector bank HDFC, Housing Development Finance Corporation, is all set to merge with India’s largest housing finance firm HDFC.
  • The HDFC’s board of directors has approved of the deal.
  • The merger has been proposed to build the housing loan portfolio of the bank and will also improve its existing customer base.
  • This proposal is to create a large net worth and a successful balance sheet that is to bring greater credit flow to the economy.

Science and Technology Current Affairs today-

The first-ever Private Astronaut Mission to the International Space Station is all ready to set sail on April 6th, 2022-

  • Axiom Space Mission 1 is to be the first all-private astronaut team to ever fly to the space station.
  • The crew will consist of four members who are to spend 8 days on the ISS to conduct scientific research, outreach, and commercial activities.
  • The mission is scheduled for launch from the Kennedy Space Station of NASA in Florida on 6th April-, 2022.
  • This is a collaboration among Axiom Space, SpaceX, and NASA.
  • The crew is to set sail on the SpaceX dragon endeavor spacecraft. 
  • The Falcon 9 rocket of SpaceX will be used for the launch of the spacecraft.

Australia bags the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, 2022-

  • The Australian women’s cricket team wins the Women’s Cricket World Cup title by beating England by 71 runs.
  • This win marks their 7th Women’s World Cup success.
  • The match was held at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, New Zealand on the 3rd of April, 2022.

Chhattisgarh tops states with the lowest unemployment rate in the country: Govt

  • The state government has set up the ‘Chhattisgarh Employment Mission’ intending to create around 15 lakh new employment opportunities in the next five years.
  • Chhattisgarh ranks first in the country with the lowest unemployment rate while the country’s unemployment rate stood at 7.6 percent in the same month (March), the statement said citing CMIE data.

Elon Musk buys 9.2% stake in Twitter

  • Elon Musk, chief executive officer of electric carmaker Tesla Elon Musk, has bought a 9.2 percent stake in the social media giant Twitter leading to the micro blogging’s shares soaring more than 26 percent in pre-market trading.
