Today’s National Current Affairs-
1. Social Awareness Campaign ‘SAANS’ Launched by Karnataka Government-
- The ‘Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully’, SAANS, the campaign is launched in Karnataka by the Health and Medical Education Minister of Karnataka, Keshava Reddy Sudhakar.
- The SAANS campaign is launched to ensure early detection and more awareness of pneumonia in children who are under 5 years of age.
2. Agra to get country’s first vacuum-based sewer system-
- The city of Taj Mahal, Agra, has become the first city in the country to have vacuum-based sewers.
- These vacuums will be used in public places.
- If the trial in Agra becomes successful, then the vacuum sewer will be used in Kochi Municipal Corporation as well.
- The work of sewer connection is estimated at Rs 100 crore.
- Sixty thousand houses have been connected with a 53 km long sewer line.
3. Asia’s biggest International Food and Hospitality fair – AAHAR-2022 begins at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi-
- Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in association with the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) is organizing Asia’s biggest international food and hospitality fair AAHAR-2022 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
- Commerce and Industry Ministry said, more than 80 exporters from different segments of agricultural products which include geographical indication products, processed food, organic, and frozen food products will participate in the fair.
- APEDA has created dedicated stalls for exporters from the North East Region and Himalayan states like Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, women entrepreneurs, Farmer Producers Organizations, Start-Ups, and exporters of millets.
4. Mumbai: Common Mobility Card launched by CM Uddhav; can be used for all public transport across the country-
- Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a pan India BST card known as the national common mobility card which can be used for traveling and purchasing all over the country.
- This card has been launched for the people who used to travel in the red bus named West Digital bus which has also become India’s first transport undertaking to sell its NCMC card.
- Aaditya Thackery said that the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport will keep progressing and new concepts introduced in Mumbai are being followed everywhere else.
5. PM Narendra Modi declared the launch of AYUSH MARK and AYUSH VISA-
- The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has launched ‘AYUSH MARK’ and ‘AYUSH VISA’ at the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit.
- The aim behind this launch is to boost the nation’s traditional medicine industry.
- The AYUSH MARK will certify the quality of AYUSH products that are produced in the country. Once the AYUSH MARK is launched, with the help of the latest technology, the quality of the products will be checked.
- AYUSH VISA, on the other hand, will help enable individuals who wish to come to India for traditional treatment. This particular Visa will allow visitors from across the globe to come to the AYUSH Wellness Center for their treatment.
6. To promote Make in India in the Defence Procurement, Government amends the DAP 2020-
- To further promote Make in India and Aatmanirbharta in defence, the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020 has been amended after the approvals provided by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC).
International Current Affairs:
1. World’s first floating city in Busan, South Korea-
- Rising water levels all over the world have been a cause of worry for humans. Coastal cities, due to frequent flooding, cause huge losses to property and the environment which cannot be ignored.
- As a pilot project of the United Nations, Busan plans to be the first city to adopt a “floating city” wherein some parts would be ready by 2025.
- The plans are afoot to make it a self-sustained city with its water recycling plant and solar panels for its power generation.
- The city would adopt a method to recycle, treat and produce its clean water for use.
- Around 12,000 people could be accommodated in this floating city once complete, which has to be served by a zero-waste economy.
- Right from the beginning, the city will be accessible by non-fuel vehicles like electric cars or bicycles.
2. UK hosts ‘world’s first’ hub for drones, future flying taxis-
- A pop-up urban port for delivery drones — and one day, potentially flying taxis — launched in Britain, lifting a box of prosecco for a brief celebratory test flight hailed as groundbreaking.
- Air-One, a so-called “vertiport” for drones and future electric vehicles taking off and landing vertically, was proclaimed as the first of its kind by proponents and heralding a new era of low-emission futuristic air transport.
- Based in Coventry, a former car manufacturing powerhouse in central England, the site will be used for a month-long showcase of the burgeoning industry.

1. Reliance Industries becomes 1st Indian company to hit Rs 19-trillion m-cap-
- Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd’s (RIL) became the first Indian listed company to touch the Rs 19-trillion market capitalization mark after its shares scaled a record high.
- RIL is one of India’s biggest conglomerates with a presence in refining or marketing petrochemicals (O2C), oil and gas exploration, retail, digital services, and media, making it a well-diversified business entity.
2. Bitbns is the first Indian exchange to list metaverse token ‘TRACE’ on its platform-
- Crypto exchange Bitbns has become the first bourse in the country to list metaverse token ‘TRACE’ on its platform.
- Belonging to the Trace Network Labs, the TRACE is a popular metaverse token used for accessorizing digital avatars.
- While it empowers network users with governance control over the protocol, TRACE also provides better exposure to the world of non-fungible tokens expanding metaverse in the country.
3. World’s richest man Elon Musk acquires Twitter in 44 billion dollar deal-
- Twitter has announced to sell its social media company to the world’s richest man Elon Musk, in a 44 billion dollar deal.
- Under the terms of the deal, shareholders will receive 54.20 dollars in cash for each share of Twitter stock they own, matching Mr. Musk’s original offer and marking a 38% premium over the stock price the day before he revealed his stake in the company.
- The deal, which was unanimously approved by Twitter’s board, is expected to close this year.
- Under the deal, Twitter’s shares will be delisted and it will be taken private.
Science & Technology Current Affairs:
1. UP first state to adopt airshed mgmt for clean air-
- UP will be the first state in the country to adopt ‘airshed management’ for clean air with the help of the World Bank and other national and international institutes.
- The state has set a target of reducing PM2.5 levels in the air to 45 micrograms per cubic meter in five years.
2. Celestial spectacle as four planets line up in the sky-
- A celestial spectacle awaits the early riser who wishes to gaze out at the pre-dawn skies.
- It is the apparent alignment of four of the brightest planets — Venus, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter — in a line.
- This year, the planets will appear close in April and May.
- As they move along in their orbits, Saturn will get further away from the others, while Jupiter and Venus will appear close on May 1, and Jupiter and Mars will look closer on May 29.
- The four planets appear in a line at this moment in the morning, and as they move in their orbits, some of them can get quite close to one another in the sky.
- However, this is just an apparent alignment as seen from our perspective on Earth.
- The actual distances between them are still vast.
- “This is an excellent occasion for all of us to visually track the positions of these fast-moving planets every day, and appreciate the motivation of all ancient cultures to understand and predict their paths in the sky,”.

1. World Day for Safety and Health at Work 28 April-
- In 2003, the International Labour Organization (ILO), began to observe World Day stress the prevention of accidents and diseases at work, capitalizing on the ILO’s traditional strengths of tripartism and social dialogue.
- This celebration is an integral part of the Global Strategy on Occupational Safety and Health of the ILO, as documented in the Conclusions of the International Labour Conference in June 2003.
- One of the main pillars of the Global Strategy is advocacy, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work is a significant tool to raise awareness of how to make work safe and healthy and of the need to raise the political profile of occupational safety and health.
- 28 April is also the International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers organized worldwide by the trade union movement since 1996.
